At least Nordea’s analysis is positive. Target around $350.
I doubled my position today and Baba is now the largest investment in my portfolio with about a 15% share.

Perhaps the significance of Ant Group is overemphasized when considering the overall picture. Even now, we’ve grown by about 30 percent, and if the stock price developed similarly, the market value would increase by a couple of hundred billion annually.
It would always be a plus to realize hidden value.
{“content”:“I got the impression from American articles that Ant was allowed a 2% capital requirement because it is considered a technology company, and they are allowed greater freedom in China. Now that Jack Ma embarrassed the Chinese political leadership who were listening in the same hall, it is very possible that Ant will start to be considered a financial company, which would subject it to the same control as all other banks in China, including capital requirements. As I understand it, the state itself also owns many banks.”}
I haven’t looked into it very deeply, but the ANT listing debacle isn’t a good thing, of course. However, ANT is a small piece of BABA. The entire ANT was almost written off from BABA during the stock price drop a few days ago.
BABA continues its strong pre-market decline that began yesterday. Singles’ Day’s first day revenue was record-breaking.
What could that Chinese regulation mean in practice, are they trying to restrict companies that have achieved a near-monopoly position? But how? BABA and JD have both come down. BABA the most, as the largest platform.
No idea. I even started to think, are they afraid of even a breakup? Jack Ma probably unnecessarily angered the Chinese leadership during Ant’s listing. With these China targets, investments are always a lottery, sometimes with accounting practices, sometimes with these authorities, etc. I’m not long, but I started a long swing yesterday, and I’m pondering its fate. I put a comment about the chart in the TA inquiry thread.
Wouldn’t that breakup be playing a bit into the Americans’ hands? I interpret this more as a threat towards Jack that will just be forgotten over time. FAANG companies have had these hearings too when their market position gets too massive, but it’s hard to believe in any breakups. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong.
Sure, it wouldn’t make sense for China. But the communist government’s way of thinking might follow slightly different paths than that of capitalists, if some private entity/company starts acting cocky? This could very well just be some funds reducing their risk, but the decline is very sharp in the short term.
Yup. In China, it seems pretty important to save face, and that kind of direct insult was extremely stupid. Maybe Jack can come across a bit more humbly, and we can continue in the direction we were headed. I’ve actually been opening a position here by buying into the drop, as I’m expecting huge Singles’ Day sales and also wanted some cloud business in my portfolio. Who knows if I grabbed a falling knife.
Yes, that chart would be upside down in terms of the stock price curve without this antitrust news. Singles’ Day is 4 days long in China this year, so at least I’m still adding cautiously, scaling. If we drop to the 246.10 support level, we’ll already be oversold on a daily basis. I’m preparing for that situation, in case we don’t turn green today.
It seems that big investors are bullish in the long term, even though the short-term outlook is cloudy.

Raymond James maintained Strong Buy
This seems like a good place to start a long-term position. I see this as the Amazon of China/the East, so the potential is absolutely enormous. Of course, in the short term, China’s political “monkey wrenches” might be reflected in the stock price.

Just earlier in the fall, it went over $300 and then dropped to these levels. The price fluctuates up and down for various reasons.
Wouldn’t it be time soon for news about arbitration and ANT relisting? We might get the price back above $300 quite quickly. If I interpret correctly, the Bear Volume is decreasing and bigger buys start at the 256 and 257 levels. A bigger Nasdaq dip could lead to a visit to the 246 levels? ![]()
This caught my eye from IB yesterday.
