Valmet to supply boiler fuel conversion to Fortum Zabrze combined heat and power plant in Poland. Valmet’s delivery to Fortum Zabrze power plant includes the conversion of the boiler fuel from coal to biomass.
Valmet’s delivery is part of Fortum’s 85 million euro investment project to modernize the Zabrze plant. Currently, the Zabrze plant uses 60 percent coal and 40 percent recycled derived fuel (RDF) as fuel. After modernization, coal will be replaced by locally supplied certified forest biomass.
The order is included in Valmet’s orders received for the fourth quarter of 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The modernized power plant is scheduled to start up in the last quarter of 2027.
