Summa’s CEO “amusingly” bypassed a journalist’s question: “Are you starting drone manufacturing in Finland?”
The entire drone assembly plant is probably just wishful thinking.

It would be good to have something like that in Finland, but I pretty much agree about the dreaming part ![]()
Best experts? Mikko Hyppönen is certainly among the best, but Jussi Holopainen is a beginner in drone manufacturing and especially development. In Finland, Patria is already making drones and has contracts. All of Europe is full of drone factories. The stock price certainly didn’t react, as it’s been falling yesterday and today. Summan’s drone manufacturing seems to be a big bubble, as production was supposed to be underway in the spring and there’s still no information.
Let’s remember that the entire factory is SECRET, so the start of production could also be completely SECRET.
Also, the drones being made could be the ultimate SECRET STEALTH model, impossible to detect with any senses or instruments!
It may be that Patria’s leaders do not have as flexible time in their calendar as Holopainen, whose main job does not seem to be the development of drone production at all, but rather storytelling around the matter. So, for an undeniably important topic, those who have had time to attend have been invited.
On another forum, the visit to Aamu-TV (Morning TV) was seen as such a significant matter that the company should have announced it. Yeah, right. How many thousands of people have visited that program over the years, telling about their doings? I was also once asked to the program on behalf of my work. Of course, I refused with a quite valid argument, namely that normal people sleep at the time that program is made. The third person asked in order was then an early riser and went there.
Summa is a grab bag where you can always hide and always find something interesting somewhere. I don’t have much faith in this with this arrangement and organization.
Decisions of the Extraordinary General Meeting.![]()
Okay, thanks. So a reverse split is coming, like former Valoe and Tecnotree. We’ll see how it affects Summa.
Today in Turun Sanomat, a big story about drone production. And of course, an interview with Jussi Holopainen. He mentions that Summa’s production is underway in Western Finland, but the location is secret for security reasons. There are certain problems at the eastern border. He mentions that in Ukraine, weapons factories have to constantly move due to the risk of being targeted by Russian attacks. Well, we’re not in Ukraine now! Summa aims for a 500M€ turnover and is on schedule. Believe it who wants. I just don’t really believe it.
Summa’s only computer with an internet connection is in Western Finland. There, Verkkokauppa.com’s pages are open, and Mavicks are being ordered and new stickers are being put on them.
You can never say never, but this company is now at the level of Onni Sarmaste and Tiina Jylhä’s paint shop.
I would also be interested in what “production” means in the context of drones, whether essential components like motors, electronics, etc., are designed/manufactured in-house (or outsourced), or if it’s mainly a case of “Made in China, Assembled in EU.”
Will Kivikko post the Turun Sanomat article so we can repost it?
Cannot share. Paywall. Screenshot possible, but probably not allowed.
Summa Drones is not yet registered. Therefore, there can be no business.
Well, and strictly speaking, I don’t remember it ever being claimed that such a thing already exists.
As for manufacturing, it has indeed now apparently been reported in Turun Sanomat to have started. I have, however, wondered a bit who is assembling them there in the secret factory in Western Finland, when the company has no employees at all. Everything is possible, of course…
Now that the state has become the owner of Uudenkaupunki Car Factory, Patria plans to increase drone manufacturing there. Patria already manufactures many kinds of drones, and their design department is in full swing. Summa claims that they are being designed and made in cooperation with Ukrainians. Another news report has stated that there are already hundreds of drone factories on site in Ukraine. Not to mention the productions of Germany and France. Summa will be in a rush.
Quite a small operation in a secret factory without employees, and a turnover of less than 20 thousand, as it’s not VAT registered.
Thank you, Kivikko, for this information. Drones are becoming billion-dollar businesses for various operators. Indeed, that cooperation, planning, and way of doing things are excellent.
Yes, the main owners can make those block trades after all. Now they can dump the shares on a friend who will no longer be subject to the trading restrictions.
“Summa Defence Plc has granted permission for the aforementioned block trades as requested, meaning Jukka Pietilä and Emilia Koivisto each have the right to sell through a block trade a maximum of 20% of the shares they own in Summa Defence Plc without the obligation to further transfer the transfer restriction pertaining to the shares. The shares may be sold through a block trade in several tranches, each not exceeding 5 percent. The permission is valid for 4 months.”
It’s laughable, isn’t it.
