It’s somewhat wild that all Robinhood users are offered the opportunity to short. There might be quite catastrophic consequences for individuals, knowing how successful the company’s “gamification” of investing has already been in the past.

Here’s an article related to Robinhood. 
The article discusses, among other things, Robinhood’s Hood Summit event in Las Vegas, where the most active users got to enjoy DJ gigs, go-karting, and VIP parties. The company wants to reward and especially engage these specific users, from whom it generates most of its revenue.
The event also showcased new tools, such as multiple investment accounts, futures trading, and an improved Robinhood Legend platform. The goal is to meet the demands of more experienced investors and prevent them from moving to competitors/platforms.
According to the article, the company’s strategy seems to be working; thanks to active traders, Robinhood’s average revenue per user increased by 34 percent during the year. At the same time, however, the company emphasizes that investors cannot be enticed into excessive trading, because long-term success determines the customer relationship. 
The newly announced features represent a change that’s happening at Robinhood. While the Robinhood app was once known as an investing platform for beginners, the product is gradually shifting to service more advanced and active investors.
“Many first-time investors eventually will become active traders. And on that journey, they just become more engaged and consequently more valuable customers,” Tenev told MarketWatch.
These active traders make Robinhood more money. The company generates most of its money from “transaction-based revenue,” which is what it makes when its users place a trade. In the second quarter of 2025, Robinhood made $539 million from transaction-based revenue.

My automated tracking spotted that the message on Robinhood Banking’s website has now been changed within a day from “Coming Fall 2025..” to “We’ll notify you when Banking launches.”
Also, a few days ago, Coastal Financial Corp, which provides these banking services to Robinhood, announced that the head of Coastal Community Bank (responsible for the banking as a service offering that Robinhood uses) resigned to join another employer. However, this was apparently not a dismissal, as a small listed bank announced shortly after that the individual had moved on to become their CEO.
So, these are quiet signals that something has gone awry and the launch is delayed. At the end of July, Vlad still commented that they were on schedule for a Q3 launch.
I personally considered the launch of Banking as one of the catalysts for the autumn stock rally, but it will likely have to wait a while longer. Hopefully, there haven’t been any major regulation-related setbacks at the last minute.

Banking has (allegedly) started rolling out now. It seems more like a nominal release (e.g., for employees’ family members) so that the Q3 deadline can be said to have been met 
This launch is not yet visible on Robinhood’s website, and the mobile app still bears the name Robinhood Credit Card. Hopefully, it will gradually start wider distribution

Robinhood significantly improved its results and already made a solid profit, while revenue grew rapidly and operational profitability strengthened.
Management emphasized a strong work ethic and new initiatives, such as expansions related to banking services and investment activities. Significant inflows were particularly generated from trading and interest income, in addition, the number of customers and their average revenue clearly increased.
The company is continuously developing new services, buying back its own shares, and is also preparing for a change in CFO, while aiming for more profitable business areas. A pretty good result.

Robinhood is expanding its operations into mortgages.
In partnership with Sage Home Loans, it offers Gold members mortgages with interest rates at least 0.75 percentage points below the national average, and customers are promised a $500 credit towards

Robinhood will start delivering cash to its customers’ homes via the Gopuff service, in the same way food is ordered.
The service is aimed at young users and Robinhood Gold members. The goal is to offer banking services in a new way and attract more customers. Sounds strange - I hope I understood correctly - cash to young people’s homes, ok.

Robinhood and Susquehanna are taking a big leap into prediction markets by acquiring 90 percent of MIAX’s derivatives exchange.
MIAX will remain involved with a minority stake of 10 percent. The deal gives the duo a direct path to list and clear futures speculation products – an area where demand is reportedly growing rapidly.
Robinhood already trades Kalshi event contracts in high volumes, but its own exchange opens up the opportunity to challenge market competitors more strongly and efficiently.
"We have evaluated alternatives to facilitate our entry to the prediction markets, and we believe that today’s strategic alignment is the right lever for offering institutional and retail futures traders exposure in the growing prediction markets,” JB Mackenzie, VP and GM of Futures and International at Robinhood said in a statement.

Prediction market growth continues strong: 3 billion contracts were traded in November, and the total volume has risen to as much as 9.5 billion.
Robinhood will present its rapid development, as well as AI and market updates, in the " Robinhood Presents: YES/NO " broadcast on December 16th.
According to the tweet, the company is clearly growing faster than the rest of the industry, and it is strengthening its market structure with a CFTC-licensed exchange established with Susquehanna. Prediction markets are predicted to be a billion-dollar business for Robinhood, and based on the development, the pace only seems to be accelerating, as stated in the tweet.

Robinhood buys Indonesian broker Buana Capital Sekuritas and “crypto trader” Pedagang Aset Kripto.
Indonesia has millions of investors and crypto traders. The deal is expected to close in the first half of next year.
The country has more than 19 million capital market investors and 17 million cryptocurrency traders, underscoring its appeal for both stock and digital asset trading.
"Indonesia represents a fast-growing market for trading, making it an exciting place to further Robinhood’s mission to democratize finance for all," said Patrick Chan, Head of Asia at Robinhood.
