Now, a beginner desperately needs advice. In 2020, I bought and sold many fractional shares using the Revolut app. I imagined that I would get a report similar to those from Finnish banks’ investment funds at the end of the year, showing capital gains and losses. It turned out that Revolut doesn’t provide such reports. You only see the amounts you’ve bought and sold, but no profits are indicated. Now I’m struggling with the tax return, almost in tears. I don’t understand at all how to report these sales. We’re not talking about very large sums, just sales of a few tens of euros now and then. But I can’t for the life of me calculate the capital gains, as the buy and sell amounts vary, and I haven’t sold everything at once. How can I proceed with this? Can I ask the tax authorities for a penalty or tax increase for making mistakes and not knowing how to report taxes? On top of that, there are many buy and sell transactions, so they’re not easy to calculate.
