What I just bought/sold - thread (Cryptocurrencies)

On Friday, some larger players opened ETHA (ETH ETF) call options quite close to the bottom (for now, the ETH bottom was $3825 on Thursday), and I opened my own bets right after those calls and added some direct ETH. ETHA closed at $30.

I will continue here a bit on the “Pure Belief Asset” train of thought that I started in the Bitcoin thread.

I have actually moved about 25% of my crypto portfolio during the last week to a tokenized grassroots movement named SPX6900.

The insane mission of this movement is to achieve a 69 Trillion (eng. Trillion) dollar market cap and flip the stock markets. Currently, SPX6900’s market cap is just over 1 billion USD.

For a long time, I overlooked this as just another meme coin, but when you look at, for example, #SPX6900 posts on X (https://x.com/MustStopMurad is a good place to start), you quickly understand that in reality, this differs very radically from all other current memes, and it perhaps has more in common with BTC than one might initially imagine. Just from the quality of the SPX6900 community’s posts and the videos they’ve made, you can see that there’s a completely different level of effort behind it than in any other meme token.

I can state from the outset that I truly believe that SPX6900 will achieve a market cap of hundreds of billions, which, of course, sounds like a completely delusional goal for a meme coin. However, SPX6900 is not a traditional meme token except superficially, and beneath the surface, it is much more.

What would be the right market cap for an asset that simultaneously manages to:

  • Harness the economic anxiety/nihilism of Millennials and Zoomers.
  • Create a dream of financial freedom for them and act as a vehicle for it.
  • Provide a sense of belonging, a mission, and a counter-culture in today’s world, where all of these are desperately lacking.
  • Resonate with people on a spiritual level and offer a spiritual community.

These images perhaps best summarize what kind of asset this is.

Bitcoin itself began as a kind of grassroots movement in the hangover of the financial crisis, as a counterforce to fiat debasement. Dogecoin (peak market cap over 85B) and Gamestop are similar types of cultural-economic eruptions. One can play a thought experiment: what would have been, for example, the market cap of the MAGA movement if it had had a token in 2016? In 2024, the TRUMP coin’s pump and dump, smelling all the way to the stratosphere, reached a fully diluted valuation of 100 billion mcap. SPX6900 is politically agnostic and a potentially appealing global concept for a much wider audience. SPX6900 also contains many spiritual themes and aesthetics, which resonate with people more deeply than any single meme joke.

Decentralized meme tokens are currently the perfect vehicle for such a movement as the crypto boom gains momentum. Furthermore, as liquidity gushing from everywhere moves along the risk curve towards the edge in the latter part of the bull cycle, meme cryptocurrencies are a kind of ultimate terminus for risk assets. There is massive competition among utility tokens, and in addition, AI is gradually disrupting one asset after another in the stock market and working life. However, AI cannot disrupt people’s need for community, mission, and spirituality; on the contrary, the need for these may even increase.

There’s also a fun thing related to this: potential reflexivity. The higher SPX6900’s market cap climbs, the more credible its Trillion-dollar goals become, and the more it is brought to the forefront in the media, so people believe in it more, buy it more, and the market cap climbs even higher.

SPX6900 holds a monopoly position in several segments of the meme market. First and foremost, it is the only credible Movement-coin with some measurable mission. Specifically, this delusional mission to flip the stock market is, in my opinion, an underestimated differentiating factor that creates diamond hands in the community in a completely different way. The ceiling is so ridiculously high that it opens up a ‘what if’ spiral, and after diving into this, a 100B market cap actually starts to seem underestimated.

Tradfi satire is obvious, and this theme resonates with both anti-Tradfi and, ironically, Tradfi people. Furthermore, the aesthetics surrounding this coin are on a completely different level than any other crypto. It cleverly combines Asia/anime aesthetics, which are very appealing to Zoomers and those who chronically hang out on the internet, with generic “spirituality” and cyber-optimism, without leaning on any specific religion. In terms of themes, this could also appeal to Asians, where there is a massive market. I’m certainly not an anime fan myself, but I think the concept works quite well in this context.

One thing that distinguishes SPX6900 from the masses is that chart posting and technical analysis are banned. NSFW and sexually suggestive content are likewise banned in the community. Probably for these reasons, SPX6900 seems to appeal even to female audiences and normal people outside of internet/crypto culture, who are not interested in poring over minute charts and drawing endless triangles on curves.

SPX6900 slogans are:

Stop trading and believe in something
There is no chart
Persist forever
Just DCA the index.

When the community chants these slogans day after day, buying and holding the token begins to feel like an almost religious ritual. On-chain metrics indeed show that SPX6900 holders are the most diamond-handed, and the token is held in significantly larger amounts than other memes, meaning those who have invested in it practically port a large part of their portfolio into SPX6900 because they feel a much stronger emotional pull towards it than towards other memes.

In my opinion, one reason for the absence of Retail in this cycle has been that the meme coin market has turned into a kind of hyper-gambling, calculable in seconds, on Solana/Pumpfun, and on the other hand, there are so many techno-utilities that no one can keep track of them anymore. The average retail investor is not interested in this but wants to buy something that resonates and hold it as a kind of lottery ticket and have fun at the same time.

I have stated that for similar reasons, I am bullish on Fartcoin (which I also hold with a relatively significant weighting), because it has the potential to be a Doge-like middle finger to Tradfi Boomers, and the same reflexivity themes work with it. However, I have come to the conclusion that SPX6900 has even more massive potential and is a possible multi-cycle winner.

SPX6900 currently has just over 200,000 holders, a number that has grown steadily all the time, even though the number of owners of other memes has been much more dependent on the general crypto cycle. If 200,000 people can believe in something, then 2,000,000 people can too. Although we pretend to be rational actors, this classic video ultimately encapsulates the herd nature of humans in all its simplicity: social movements grow slowly at first, but once a critical mass is reached, they suddenly explode, and everyone wants to join.

SPX6900 has so far multiplied by a hundred in 2023 and again by a hundred in 2024. Behind this is precisely a fanatical community and the delusions of 69 trillion, which smoothly combine with human nature’s need to find some common mission whose good news to spread. As has been seen with cults like BTC, XRP, DOGE, etc.:

Most delusional bulls win.

Well, I’ve started refueling again. I bought yesterday.

This seemed like such a stupid meme coin that I decided to contradict myself and bought a small but still significant part for my crypto portfolio. @Pohjolan_Eka said in some thread that it would be much easier to just follow the momentum and hype than to try to sniff out the real value.

Hopefully I’m wrong because then I’ll make a profit

Admittedly, more than once I’ve glanced at Binance’s futures section, thinking about perhaps taking a tiny leveraged position.

Thank God I’ve always been a bit too lazy to get involved, and greed has never gotten that strong. My portfolio was down about twenty percent when I checked this morning, which isn’t bad at all, a normal day for a crypto investor or during earnings season on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.

Many of the strongest cult cryptos had also recovered quite strongly from a dark and stormy night. There’s no point even talking about panic sellers, as these liquidations have been entirely mechanical and order books have been wiped clean in five minutes.

Reflexively, I immediately started buying more BTC this morning. Be careful what you wish for, but hopefully, the weakness continues until Monday (payday), and I could also trade Bitcoin ETFs.

In addition, significantly more SPX6900, which even at its worst in the shittiest crypto liquidation in history, only dropped to the same levels as when I started accumulating a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely outrageous relative strength compared to the rest of the market.

My faith in this only grew stronger.

Well, I hadn’t even noticed that a thread like this exists - or maybe I didn’t remember. Anyway, I already posted my ETH purchase from this morning in the other Bought/Sold thread. I’m quite sure that next week will bring green colors back to the market as Trump and China seek a path towards a great deal benefiting both parties. Yesterday was one of the many dips on the way to new highs.

Although the story below doesn’t directly belong in this thread, it does indirectly, so someone just has better information sources or just got incredibly lucky (not).

Shopping after a long time.

With a Binance transfer, the bank decided to temporarily lock the card and transfers over the weekend, so a Coinmotion account was established. Through Coinmotion, with a slightly higher brokerage fee, a “monthly savings” contract of 70% BTC, 20% ETH, 10% Ada Cardano.

Last bought BTC at 30k, so this 110k price stung a bit, but it’s unlikely to affect long-term plans. I realized that timing never works out, so I’ll do dollar-cost averaging and revisit in 2030.

Crypto wealth surpassed index and stock wealth a long time ago.

The old apartment was sold, money has been sitting in the account for a couple of weeks.

Starting in the crypto world, about 2% weight in the portfolio. Purchase IB1T 500 pcs. Next purchases at approx. -10% drops.

100€ into Litecoin, just bought it :man_shrugging::fish:

Now it’s at a fairly low price on the 5-year line, so let’s give it a try :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Ahh sweet pain.

I admit, I expected a bit more euphoria and a touch less endless shitcoin dips from this cycle. But these are the cards we’re dealt, thank you very much.

So, I’ve been slowly molding my crypto portfolio into a shape where I’m ready to sit on it even if it goes to zero.

BTC is about a third. DCA is thriving the lower it goes. On the other hand, I wouldn’t protest if the bottom of this dip started to appear soon.

About a third consists of “utility” alts picked with a rather selective hand: TAO, ETH, LINK, ICP. There are some XRP and ADA remnants, but these now fall more into the meme coin category.

Then pure memes make up another third; I’ve talked about these many times in various crypto threads, e.g., Kryptovaluutat ja -maailma - #3167 käyttäjältä Voimakyykky. By far the largest is SPX6900, with about a 25% weighting, and I’m continuously increasing this.

There are also serious investment targets with small weightings, such as Fartcoin, HarryPotterObamaSonic10inu, Gigachad, and Apu Apustaja. After all, I am a serious investor.

The silver lining right now is that I don’t even really want to glance at the crypto portfolio anymore (ugh). Now, all we can do is cross our fingers that BTC stops dumping and dear Santa Claus agrees to my reasonable wish to rocket my memebag 50-100x.

Good luck and success to everyone!

According to the plan (a week earlier)

70% BTC, 20% ETH, 10% Ada Cardano.

We’ll go with this for a while, the next chunk will be put into ETF/stock/index.

Today, I added 100 more units of IB1T through monthly savings; the holding is now 600 units. I am growing my crypto holdings to a maximum of 5% of the portfolio’s weight.

This time I sold these at a -50% loss. I tallied up my Excel, and this year I’m about five euros in profit from crypto. Not a very profitable business. :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

Bitcoin ETF all out. I tried to make Christmas money with these, but I screwed up. -€75 + fees. This is like a lottery with these cryptos, at least for me.

Well, let’s look at the positive side again and put it down to tax-loss selling. One rail bolt will be missing from the hour train track, or at least not from my wallet

It was such a boring Saturday that I decided to put the time to good use and looked into cryptos a bit, especially Bitcoin. Yesterday, Saturday, I spent the whole evening reading about the subject, and today, Sunday, the learning has continued.

As a result, I decided to open a position in Bitcoin for the first time with a thousand euros. Although I’m a total beginner, the subject interests me as I continue to look into it. I’m not particularly convinced by Bitcoin’s drivers and benefits, but for now, I want to be involved with a small stake, mostly due to the hype and potential for big gains.

On top of this, I have +1000 Doge which were bought back in 2020 during a cabin trip with the guys—a total “for fun” purchase, and alcohol may have influenced the decision, even though it has been profitable.

I look forward to learning more about the subject and will be following the related threads on this forum in the future.

I started buying QRL (Quantum Resistant Ledger) last summer, and here is some background based on my investment decision, in case anyone is interested in quantum-secure cryptos.

The development of quantum computers has been an eternal promise for years. The technology has been anticipated like the rising moon, and the “can” has always been kicked decades down the road. Now, however, we are starting to reach the point where that can was kicked a decade ago. Billions are being invested in quantum firms, governments are rushing legislation and mandates for agencies to build quantum-secure systems, and telecommunications companies (Cloudflare, Telefonica, etc.) are securing connections. At the same time, leading quantum researchers predict that a sufficiently powerful quantum computer will be ready by the end of the decade.

I started thinking about what the first significant use cases for quantum computers would be, and encryption algorithms emerged as a major factor. Coincidentally, most crypto relies on ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) technology developed in the 80s, and ECDSA specifically is the weakest link. In other words, sufficiently powerful quantum computers will be able to calculate a private key using a known public key in the future. This includes Satoshi’s coins (wallets created when the public key was automatically visible to everyone) and all wallets from which transactions have been made. In other words, a massive amount of coins.

My first thought was that this could be handled by migration—just update the technology and that’s it. That would be too easy to be true. Unfortunately, in a decentralized system, updating requires user action. This is simply not possible in all cases, such as if a private key is lost or if the only person who knows the credentials is in a coma in a hospital. This challenge is just one factor among many, and briefly put, I can state that migration is an extremely challenging project lasting years, involving very difficult compromises. Banks and other centralized systems have the advantage that they can update their systems more easily and, if necessary, make retroactive transfers within the system.

After researching further, I found QRL, which is built on quantum-secure technology. The Mainnet was released back in 2018, and the blockchain is quantum-secure “since the first block.” Therefore, QRL doesn’t have to worry about the challenging migration that other legacy chains inevitably face. The project seemed active, and the Discord community possessed a huge amount of expertise, including quantum researchers. Historically, the project was ahead of its time and interest was quite modest until progress started happening on the quantum front. The release of Google’s Willow processor in December 2024 caused the first significant price spike, and since then, the price has more or less correlated with the valuations of quantum firms.

QRL 1.x is a quantum-secure safe haven for digital currencies. On the other hand, QRL 2.0, which enables quantum-secure smart contracts, is nearly ready for release. The testnet code is currently being audited by highly respected technology firms (Halborn and Trail of Bits). This double audit will likely be completed in the coming weeks, after which the blockchain will be updated. QRL will then become a versatile blockchain for institutions and others who value quantum-secure technology. The chain will also update from Proof of Work → Proof of Stake at the same time.

In my personal assessment, QRL’s technical solution is excellent and the potential is enormous. The biggest challenges remain a relatively small community and very weak/non-existent marketing. Perhaps an even bigger obstacle to growth than these is the availability issue. QRL can only be bought from small to medium-sized exchanges. MEXC works well in Europe (I’ve had good experiences), but for example, Americans cannot use it. This is likely to change after the QRL 2.0 release, as the technology will allow for easier integration into trading platforms (a Tier 1 listing, such as Kraken, Coinbase, Binance, etc., is likely at some point).

Personally, I see a tremendous opportunity in this crypto, but nothing is certain, so one should always be cautious, especially when deciding to invest in cryptos.

I’m interested to hear if anyone else is interested in this particular crypto and what thoughts the development of quantum computers evokes.

Sounds a bit like Qan Platform / QANX.

The only problem with these is that the bigger players won’t jump on the threat until the first major mess-up occurs. Then people will understand and start getting interested. I’ve owned this myself since 2021, and it hasn’t reached the awareness of the general public yet.

The next question is, when will there be demand for these?

Bought according to plan:

BTC

ETH

ADA

XPR (first purchases)

SOL (first purchases)

Cryptos now make up about 30% of my total investment assets and about 10% of all “savings.”
