Marketing departments. Whenever they’re let loose, reality warps into new dimensions.

But the fact is that these are competent hardware, especially for business use in providing connections, as even 25gbit fiber can be offered to customers much more easily than before. For home use, 10gbit+ is likely massively overkill for a long time, but then again… if such a thing were offered to my own place at a somewhat reasonable price, I’d probably take it :slight_smile:

And from Nokia’s perspective, it’s good that if/when such speeds are made available to customer connections, it directly means investments in new, much faster switches to feed these connections.

It hasn’t been many years since gigabit was considered a completely alien connection for households, and 100mbit was also “ridiculously fast”. New uses for that bandwidth will always be found…
