Transportation powertrain solutions: electricity, hydrogen, fuel cells

Huge if true!

But it really is something else entirely than a chemical battery; the battery doctor is already speculating about a supercapacitor battery. It has its own issues as well, but perhaps donitsi has been able to solve its problems.

Another thing is the charging power. Such high charging power inside a small vehicle requires super-precise thermal management and voltage balancing. Interesting to see how that has been solved,

And as an addition: the donut got the attention it deserved, and while you perhaps can’t accuse them of lying, the terminology is still a bit loose—though understandable, as they wouldn’t have received the same attention with the term supercap. BUT. A supercap is not an all-solid-state battery, unless faradaic reactions are found for energy storage.

What makes this interesting is that it has been impossible for supercapacitors to achieve an energy density of 400 Wh/kg until now. If Donut Lab has succeeded in this, it’s a Nobel-level invention, regardless of what it’s called.

Eye-opening video about the car market. Western car brands are withdrawing from China. Chinese electric vehicles are taking over the market there, as well as possibly (probably?) in Western countries in the future. Even Tesla is in trouble in China.

Today in Kauppalehti, there is an interview regarding the battery miracle. Nothing earth-shattering is revealed in it, of course, but it’s an interesting piece.
