LIDAR manufacturers under the radar

Innoviz Technologies’ first quarter seems to have gone quite well.

Innoviz’s revenue grew significantly from a year ago, mainly due to services and production batches, apparently. At the same time, the company managed to streamline its operations, e.g., by significantly reducing its operating expenses. Staff stock-based compensation also decreased significantly, and cash reserves are in good shape.

The production version of the Volkswagen ID Buzz autonomous van is designed to operate as a driverless taxi (robotaxi), and in addition to Mobileye’s technology, it also includes laser-based radar sensors from the Israeli company Innoviz. The cars are expected to be delivered to customers in 2026.

Volkswagen unveiled yesterday (Tuesday) the production version of the ID Buzz AD, which is intended to be the first autonomous vehicle to go into mass production. It is a driverless version of the ID Buzz electric van, which is also sold in Israel and is designed to operate as a driverless taxi (robotaxi). Let’s update some news regarding Ouster.
Ouster acquired Stereolabs. Stereolabs provides camera expertise. With this deal, Ouster is no longer just a Lidar house, but a provider of “integrated solutions.”
As the first fruit of this acquisition, Ouster launched the ZED X Nano camera. This is designed for robotics applications.
Ouster released the REV8 OS lidar. This is the next-gen version of the old OS0, OS1, and OSDome sensors. REV8 OS doubles the range and resolution, detects colors, and is compatible with NVIDIA’s Jetson AI platform.

So, there is definitely action on the news front. The stock is also in an uptrend on the daily chart. The earnings report is coming up soon as well.
