Inderes.fi product development updates #techtalk

Moi @Mika, kiitos viestistä!

Korjasimme tuon satunnaisen bugin aikaisemmin tällä viikolla.

Would it be possible to rationalize these filenames? Try finding an extensive report for evening reading among these.:worried: On the old platform, the names were somewhat sensible.

Good point. Those files should have better names now!

I wonder if this is just a user-end problem, since I can’t access the forum from my computer, but it works fine on mobile!?

Have the forum’s search function priorities been changed somehow? When I type “Inderes”, for example, irrelevant results appear quite high and the Inderes company thread is only about tenth!?

And as soon as I got the message posted, accessing the forum started working again🙂

For some reason, Smartoptics Group (Smartoptics Group - Inderes) does not appear in the front page company list, even though I follow it.

Hi @Snasse, good catch! Smartoptics is a Norwegian company, so we don’t currently have price data for them, which is why we don’t show them in the front page listing. I can’t promise exactly when we will add Oslo Stock Exchange data, but I would be a bit surprised if we didn’t have it a year from now.

Would it be possible to get a 1.25x playback speed for these videos? Or what prevents you from implementing a continuously adjustable playback speed? YouTube has such a great feature these days.

Hmm yeah, 1.25x is probably more common for many than 1.5x. It’s probably not a big deal to fix and adjust those steps to be smarter, @Antti_Kurkinen? Maybe add one step, or then adjust them to something like (0.5x, normal, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x) format.

It should be possible! They were actually in the previous player version, but for some reason, they’ve been left out of this current one. Let’s see how much we need to hack away at it :+1:

@Thyme Now 0.75x, 1.25x, and 1.75x are visible in the video players! (Coming to audiocasts as well later)

The “Taxation” tag could be added to the following threads:

  • taxation of stock trades
  • taxation of foreign stocks
  • discussion about brokers (there is some broker-specific taxation discussion here)

Thanks for the tip @terva_xyz, I went and added it to those three :white_check_mark:

Inderes’ webcast seemed to have automatically generated subtitles in three languages: Finnish, Swedish, and English.

InderesTV’s YouTube videos seem to have automatic generation only in the language used in the video. Can we assume that soon all InderesTV videos will be available with subtitles in three languages?

I see this as a major leap forward in internationalization.

Has anyone else experienced this after the latest changes: Company pages often throw an error.

Thanks for letting me know. I made a few changes that I believe will help with this. Please let me know if the problem still continues!

@JukkaM brought to my attention in the Digital Workforce thread the excellent Signaali podcast.

In one episode there, Evli’s Mattias Lagerspetz talks about how they use AI, for example, in their Atlas service.
https://www.signaalipodcast.fi/e/signaali-7-kielimallit-sijoittajan-apuna-miten-tekoalylla-tehostetaan-sijoitustoimintaa-vieraana-mattias-lagerspetz/

Inderes has also conducted AI experiments, for example, through the Rane-robot and various audios and texts. Most recently, a podcast made with NotebookLM, which @Tomi_Valkeajarvi posted on X.

@Tommi_Saarinen and @Markus_Hav also made a very interesting Inderes Podcast. Although the podcast discussed AI quite generally, I still interpreted that behind the scenes, the matter is being seriously considered, even if it’s not yet outwardly visible in practical actions in the actual analysis work.

One could imagine that the role of AI in stock analysis will increase at a rapid pace in the near future. So far, Inderes has not made any statements regarding this. It would be nice to hear from the technical team, perhaps in the form of a podcast, what kind of things Inderes has been considering regarding this matter.

Currently, the key themes of the strategy are

  • Productization and sales
  • Sweden
  • International Inderes

@Mikael_Rautanen, I recall a CMD (Capital Markets Day) was coming in the spring, is the strategy being updated in this regard by making the adoption of AI one of the key themes? Inderes has generally been a pioneer in such matters, and this could be a good way to differentiate itself in international markets.

Addition: I would test with OpenAI’s Deep Research.
With three prompts, I got this analysis of Inderes. The target price also increased during that time. However, it seems to contain errors, for example, in the number of Finnish listed companies.

Within the framework of the current strategy, several projects are already underway, in addition to numerous small experiments and the adoption of tools that enhance operations. We will certainly address this theme in more detail in the spring strategy update!

When clicking the ‘Analyysipalvelu’ (Analysis Service) link at the top of the forum, this often appears. I have a 9th generation iPad and iPadOS 17.6.1. A few months ago, the same error also occurred on a MacBook Air bought last autumn, so it’s not just iPad-related. I apologize for my laziness in reporting this so late

Would it be possible to add the option to listen to analysis reports? I use my eyes so much for other things during the day that I want to strain them as little as possible with other tasks. Analyst comments can currently be listened to, read by AI, because they are on an HTML page. Premium reports, however, cannot, because they are in PDF files… which is a bit strange, as the free service is better in this regard than the paid one.

I currently work around the lack of functionality by copy-pasting pages with a lot of text into an HTML-formatted text file with a pre-tag in the middle. After that, I move the file to the cloud and open it for listening with the Edge browser on a mobile device (I use a voice named Harri). It would be even better if this pre-preparation didn’t have to be done on a laptop and the voice didn’t take unnecessary pauses. Additionally, on the analyst comment pages, there is a long table at the beginning, which takes quite a long time to read, and skipping over it also takes unnecessary time. It can be hidden by locally manipulating the HTML page on a laptop… although this requires switching devices.

Hi @Paul_Protz, thanks for the feedback

A little off-topic first: Last autumn, we experimented with the option to listen to the morning review, which is similar to listening to your comments. Based on the feedback received, we decided not to advance the solution immediately, as we had other higher-priority development projects. I believe we will implement this within the next year  So it’s great that you’ve developed a suitable way to consume our content, even though we haven’t had time to develop it ourselves yet!

Then, regarding your wish to listen to PDF reports. We announced at the CMD in May that we are moving away from PDF reports as the primary report format. In the future, you will still be able to get and read PDFs from the site, but we are primarily aiming to build web versions of reports, similar to comments. This would allow them to be read using the method mentioned above, or your own process.

So, in short, we will indeed be addressing this need from several angles! And as a reminder, we also have interviews with analysts and CEOs available for listening on Spotify
