Inderes.fi content development ideas

Robo-comments are back

Good morning forum  Admicom started the Q1 earnings season, so we also published the season’s first robo-comment!

Comments have been improved, for example:

  • Model changed to a better o4
  • Prompts rebuilt. Now comments should be more descriptive and explain the factors behind the numbers, without being too speculative.
  • We also tested CEO quotes, broader context, etc., but decided on the current version to keep it concise enough. In the future, the aim is to add visual elements, but those will come in subsequent earnings seasons.
  • New name and look are more international, thanks Rane! Welcome Flash :zap:

If you have any thoughts or wishes, please send a message!

Have a pleasant earnings season and make good dip buys

ps. If you’re interested in the development of robo-comments or our platform, our team is looking for a new developer! Application open until April 27th, check out the announcement

Do I remember correctly, by the way, that Tero Kuittinen used to write comments on Inderes’s pages weekly during the Corona crisis, or was it another time!? It would be really interesting to hear his views again from across the pond on the turns of the trade war and the atmosphere in the USA. He has been quite an active commentator on other platforms even now.

Yeah, thanks @Midnight_Rendezvous, I secretly hoped someone would fetch them for me, as my own searches tend to fail🙂

Oh, I didn’t know about this, I’ll have to read it! It feels like Inderes used to have more guest writers, but information about this has somewhat gotten lost.

Kuittinen’s writings from 2020:

InderesTV video with Kuittinen from 2020:

I find Kuittinen a pleasure to listen to, as his views rarely contain the kind of typical embellishment and filtering that many others have. Facts and his own views are presented directly, no matter the topic.

I’m posting this here, as there isn’t a separate Inderes.se content development ideas thread. I took a look at the Inderes.se forum yesterday for the first time in a while, and the discussion is still quite Inderes staff-driven, although local @Sijoittaja-alokas, username Börsen84, deserves a special mention (they might be the same person or at least brothers, as they are equally agile and quick to share information in different threads, editor’s note :-)).

However, it seems that cautious, local interest is directed at least to the thread " Fråga en aktieanalytiker ". Would there be any idea to pin that thread to the top of the Swedish forum as a kind of “hook” product? Such a rare opportunity for a private investor could certainly generate more interest. Here in Finland, it’s almost taken for granted that analysts answer our questions in company threads, and a separate thread isn’t needed. Well, this was just a quick development suggestion, as I briefly checked what’s happening in Sweden. I’m mainly interested in the matter as an Inderes shareholder.

Accessibility and barrier-free design have been a relatively hot topic for several years, even at the regulatory level. And it’s a great thing that, for example, the participation of people with mobility, hearing, and visual impairments in various activities is being enabled better than before. It is therefore appropriate to also consider the accessibility of Inderes’ event production. AI would surely enable, relatively soon, if not already, high-quality real-time subtitling for broadcasts at a low cost. On YouTube, these automatic subtitles have been available for videos for quite some time, and apparently, for live broadcasts, it is currently only possible in English.

At least when opening a couple of old webcast recordings, I couldn’t find subtitles even afterwards. Furthermore, a quick Google search didn’t reveal any detailed regulations concerning the accessibility of investor communications. However, I believe that as technology develops, these kinds of “low-hanging fruits” of accessibility will become mandatory sooner or later. And even before a regulator’s command, one could start marketing IR production as “the most accessible in the world.” It would certainly fit well with companies’ ESG policies. At first glance, these sound like small things, but when you think about it, a deaf person would pretty much miss out on webcasts.

Thanks, good thing you said so :slightly_smiling_face: Could Teemu get a green dot? I don’t have the rights for that.

By the way, does @_TeemuHinkula also want their new title in their profile? I can put that in.

Thanks for asking! I will gladly and proudly continue to bear the title of the first real dividend recipient in the future.

I can’t say anything about the green checkmark. I can’t really think of what it would change and what its added value would be.

Thanks for the important point @OpenShove! We currently have several AI ideas and experiments in the pipeline, and the Videosync team has also tested real-time subtitles. I can’t say more about it myself, but we have preliminarily investigated it, and the idea is to automate the functionality later in the future.

I had a chat with several prolific investment writers at the annual general meeting. Many of them share the common trait of preferring to write their thoughts for fellow investors on some kind of “own” platform rather than on the Inderes forum. By this, I mean they might have their own Twitter account, their own blog platform, or some other way to compile their writings into a collection that is easily browsable and readable. They have many followers, they are active, but on the Inderes forum, they are mostly in the role of readers.

The Inderes forum has had some blogs, but I, at least, have found that the mixing of blog posts with comments or replies here is not very reader-friendly. Blog posts do not stand out, they do not receive the attention they deserve, and they do not form an easily browsable archive of blog posts where an individual investor could store their own thoughts.

Does Inderes have anything related to blog posts in its idea pipeline? Could a functional and visible blogging feature attract more active and skilled investors to the community?

I myself have also considered starting some kind of blog for years, mainly to compile my own thoughts in a diary-like manner, but so far the threshold to do something about it has been too high. I think many others might increase their public writing if such an easily adoptable blogging opportunity existed.

It’s probably true that many also want to earn a little pocket money with their writings and therefore mostly write for money on well-known sites or on their own platform in the hope of advertising revenue. But hardly any Finnish investor earns anything more than pocket money with, for example, Twitter posts, so one could assume that money is not a threshold issue for very many.

@Verneri_Pulkkinen @Sauli_Vilen

Could we get overviews of foreign small-cap companies in the video content as well? The Swedish market is particularly interesting. There are constantly subscription offers available in Sweden, and I feel like I’m constantly missing out on great opportunities because I don’t get acquainted with Swedish small-cap companies in time.

For example, Diamyd Medical currently has a subscription offer ongoing, and it would be good to get fact-based analysis on it, because the risks are high. This is potentially a Breakthrough-level drug, but all the company’s video media is in Swedish.

Can the email address of an Inderes account be changed somehow? I have already changed it in a couple of places, but the old address still appears on the inderes.fi side, and email messages are still sent to the old address.

Hi!

Is the Forum throwing a lot of errors for others now?

In recent months, “errors” have occasionally appeared briefly in some situations, but right now, errors are occurring disturbingly often; threads don’t open, and messages don’t send easily.

EDIT:

About an hour later: It’s working well now at least

Quite often in recent months, the forum has gotten stuck loading a message thread endlessly for me and won’t open at all. The only thing that has helped with this is stopping and reloading. I don’t know if it’s the same issue?? This is with Android 15 and the latest Chrome combo

Hi, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the premium content written by Verneri no longer moves to the premium articles tab.

All existing ones that don’t appear in premium articles:

I don’t know if @Verneri_Pulkkinen forgot a tag or if something else broke.

Thanks! When such things occur, the most likely assumption is that I’ve forgotten something, and that proved to be the correct assumption this time too. I remembered to turn on the Premium buzz, but not to tag the articles. I’ll start fixing it right away!

Such “community blogs” could be a really nice feature, but perhaps a lot of work.

With one’s own blogs, there’s also the advantage that one can engage in commercial activities as they wish and arrange things in their desired way.

I myself have also sometimes considered that blog, and for now, I only write a diary and notes for myself in a drawer.

We already have 3rd party content, this blog could be a good idea too! I’ve noted it down and @Miikka_Laitila, prepare for this to be brought up in the next dev meeting.

This is also a good idea, but right now we have a quite limited number of companies under surveillance in Sweden, and such material, at its best, would surely come from analysts who follow companies as their job.

I personally follow Sweden in my free time and own Swedish companies (right now only one though :frowning: ) but perhaps this kind of material isn’t quite suitable for videos except as part of other entities, such as game podcasts where Paradox, Embracer, and next also Asmodee are familiar.

How to summarize now.. Good idea, in mind but not yet coming.

In my opinion, this is a great idea! I have also sometimes considered (perhaps even out loud at the shareholders’ meeting) that attracting popular Swedish bloggers (with money) to the Inderes platform could be a good way to build the community there.

So, for Sunday evening’s entertainment :grinning: I looked through the article list and premium articles a bit, and it seems there are quite a few more missing tags as I scrolled down the list.

And it continues even after those, but I don’t know if the site or concept has changed at some point. These are, however, very well-written pieces, and it would be nice to find them more easily in the future, as they otherwise get buried under other content. This also applies to all other Inderes content; finding it becomes significantly more difficult if you don’t notice it at the time of publication.

At this rate of article publication, Inderes will soon transform from an analysis company into a financial media run by Verneri.

This is an excellent idea, by the way, and I’ve noticed how some FinTwitter writers, fearing platform collapse, have diversified their writing to, for example, free or paid Substack or other platforms. At this point, it would probably be good to make quick moves before many good former FinTwitter users have their own blogs on another platform, if this is something you want to push forward.
