Ford Motor Company

In the United States, a lawmaker is investigating Ford’s plan to manufacture batteries and large-scale energy storage systems at its battery plants using technology from the Chinese company CATL. He is seeking answers from Ford on whether the company has modified its agreement with CATL to allow the use of their technology for energy storage and data centers as well.

There are apparently concerns in the U.S. that such cooperation could pose a risk to national security and the economy, especially as it involves critical technology and energy.

Ford and Geely are in talks regarding a potential deal, which could see Geely manufacturing cars at Ford’s European plants.

This would allow Geely to enter the European market more easily while simultaneously avoiding import tariffs.

At the same time, Ford would gain the partnerships and support it needs in its competition against Chinese rivals.

Ford’s results were somewhat mixed; on the positive side, full-year revenue rose to a record $187.3 billion, but then again, the year ended with a net loss of $8.2 billion due to one-time items.

In the final quarter, revenue decreased by 5 percent, but on the other hand, despite a challenging year, the company’s adjusted operating profit remained positive and liquidity stayed strong, so there were no issues on that front.

For this year, Ford forecasts an improvement in earnings and aims for higher margins in the future by focusing on electric vehicles, cost efficiency, and new products, among other things.
