CD47:n tarina näyttää yhä enemmän siltä, että biologia oli oikea, mutta lähestyminen liian yksinkertainen. Gilead maksoi Forty Sevenistä 4.9 mrd ja Pfizer Trilliumista 2.3 mrd, mutta kliininen hyöty jäi lopulta heikoksi.
Hyvä kirjoitus Nancyltä. Faronin kannalta mielenkiintoisin kohta on kuitenkin Trutino Biosciencesin (sittemmin Boehringer Ingelheimin ostama) immunologiajohtaja Patrik Anderssonin kommentti kirjoitukseen:

CD47:llä poistettiin yksi “don’t eat me” -signaali, mutta itse makrofagi jäi edelleen suppressiiviseen tilaan. Siksi Patrik nostaakin Clever-1:n next-gen myeloid-IO -targettien joukkoon.
Kyllä Big Pharma tietää mihin suuntaan kenttä on menossa.
